Trout Unlimited was born on the banks of Michigan's Au Sable River in 1959. What started as a small group of Michigan anglers soon became one of the premier conservation groups in North America for the preservation of cold water streams. The Northwestern Chapter of Trout Unlimited located near the best cold water streams on the East Coast is just as dedicated as our founders. We strive to conserve, protect and restore our cold water fisheries.

We accomplish this mission on local, state and national levels with an extensive and dedicated volunteer network. The national office, based just outside of Washington, D.C., employs professionals who testify before Congress, publish TU's quarterly magazine, intervene in federal legal proceedings and work with TU's 100,000 grassroots volunteers in 450 chapters nationwide to keep them active and involved in conservation issues.

"A good game fish is too valuable to be caught only once,"
