NWTU sponsors a National Conservation Banquet every year to raise money to support conservation efforts for freshwater habitats. This year's banquet, held on Aug. 26, 2000, raised over $38,000! NWTU has consistently placed itself among the top chapters for total net banquet income over the last 10 years. Since the first banquet held in 1987, NWTU has raised over $590,000! A special thanks to all of the individual chapter members and members of the community who have donated time and effort to make the NWTU banquets a success!!! The NWTU banquet is traditionally held in late August at the Holiday Inn Select in Hickory, North Carolina. The banquet begins with cocktails at 6:00 p.m. and a buffet dinner at 7:15 p.m. At 8:30 p.m. the live auction begins with items such as furniture, prints, fly fishing equipment, guided trips and travel packages. Throughout the evening, guests are free to bid on the silent auction items around the room and enter themselves in various raffles. After the live auction is complete, winners on the Extravaganza Raffles will be announced, along with winners of the bucket raffles.
